History and Character of Atheism

This course leads the student from the skepticism of the 16th century, through the anti-Christian thought of the Enlightenment, to the grand reconstructions of reality to fit atheism's antitheology of the 19th century under Comte, Marx, and Nietzsche, onto the soul-twisting explanations of Freudianism and existentialism of the 20th century, and ends with the not-so-new atheism of the 21st century
