History and Character of Atheism
This course leads the student from the skepticism of the 16th century, through the anti-Christian thought of the Enlightenment, to the grand reconstructions of reality to fit atheism's antitheology of the 19th century under Comte, Marx, and Nietzsche, onto the soul-twisting explanations of Freudianism and existentialism of the 20th century, and ends with the not-so-new atheism of the 21st century.

Byzantine Empire
Lasting nearly 1,150 years (AD 306–1453), the Roman-Byzantine Empire experienced both greatness and decline. Despite crises in 610, 717, 1081, and 1204, it repeatedly rebounded, embodying Rome’s legacy and defending Christendom. Praise and blame coexisted, shaping the empire’s dramatic history.
